Literature Text

"don't forget the milk," she said to herself precipitately
but there was a button missing on her yellow raincoat
she wore the socks that were drying on the radiator
it doesn't matter if they are still a little damp
she took the umbrella, the one with red polka dots,
(it coordinated nicely with the new lipstick he bought her)
but the wind blew and blew the skeleton out of shape
pity, and yet she persisted with pride holding back its wings
the corner store was in sight. she kept her head bowed low
she didn't have time to iron and she's certain they'd notice
with a whistle she sashayed toward the counter, basket in hand;
six eggs in a cardboard carton; the finest eggs for baking
two onions, a couple tins of meat for the cats, some wine,
a bag of plain flour, a small tub of butter and german cheese.
she paid in exact change for she didn't like the inconvenience
of carrying loose coins in her purse; they fell out, you see.
she walked with a skip back to the house, checking how her
lipstick looked in the car windows she passed - it remained unsullied.
heels kicked off, and put in rank with the other troops
she unloaded the two brown paper bags; there was a pause however
for she needed to test the wine, although not enough for them
to smell it upon her breath. she pinned up her hair next
hands washed. apron on. oven lit. she prepared to make dinner.
he will be home soon, she thought to herself. tick. tick. tick.
another glass of wine to drown the stress. he will be home soon....

she forgot the milk.

This is great :D
I like how there is little written detail but yet you can see the scene in great detail visually, very effective ^^
Keep up the good work ;)
